Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Sanfrid "Sandy" Johnson played in the Pittsburgh Pirates system from 1959 to 1966, missing the 1963 season. He played his last three seasons in the California League and Carolina League, the highest he would reach.
After his playing days, Johnson was a minor league manager for the Milwaukee Brewers for three seasons and a scout for the club from 1971 to 1974. He later was Director of Scouting for the San Diego Padres from 1982 to 1984 before working in the Texas Rangers front office for more than a decade. He then was with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998 to 2004 and the New York Mets from 2005 to 2010.
