Biographical Information[edit]
Sam Coppola played one season in the minors.
Coppola played football in college, then spent time in the Marines. After leaving the Marines, he joined his brother Mike Coppola on the 1955 Wytheville Statesmen. While Mike would win the home run title, Sam was just 6 for 52 with 9 walks, 17 strikeouts, a steal, a hit-by-pitch, 5 runs, a double and 7 RBI. In the outfield, he had 15 putouts, two assists and two errors. He later played football for 10 years in the semi-pro Atlantic Coast Football Conference, played baseball for Stamford Tile in the Twilight League and ran the Sam Coppola Baseball League.
