Sami Säkkinen was with the Swedish junior national team in 2004. went 2-1 with a 7.04 ERA for the 2005 Karlskoga Bats. He struck out an amazing 38 in 23 innings but also walked 29. In 2006, he was 2-2 with a 6.56 ERA. In 23 1/3 IP, he fanned 42 and walked 19. He did not play in the 2007 or 2008 Elitserien. He is on Sweden's preliminary roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
