Biographical Information[edit]
Right-hander Sam Page had four seasons in professional baseball. He spent 1938, 1939, 1940 and 1946 in the minors. He also had a short appearance in the major leagues with the Philadelphia Athletics for eighteen days in September of 1939. He appeared in four games, pitched 22 innings and posted a 0-3 record and a 6.95 ERA.
During his four years in the minors, Sam never posted a winning season. Possibly his best season came in 1946 with the DeLand Red Hats of the class D Florida State League when he put together an 8-9 record with a 3.49 ERA in 28 games.
He also posted a 7-9 record with a 3.93 ERA with the Williamsport Grays of the class A Eastern League in 1939 before being called up to the big leagues by the Athletics. He finished out in 1946 with a 24-34 career record and a 3.89 ERA in 118 games.
There is no information readily available on Page's time from 1941 through 1945. Page passed away in Greenville, SC on May 29, 2002 at the age of 86.
