Biographical Information[edit]

Sam Moir played in the minor leagues in 1943, 1947 and 1948. His most notable campaign was 1947, when he hit .339 with a Blue Ridge League-leading 151 hits in 108 games for the Mount Airy Graniteers. He hit .314 with 205 hits in 159 games overall. He later became head coach of Catawba College's men's basketball team, heading it for 34 seasons.

He served in World War II.

His younger brother, Charlie Moir, played in the minor leagues in the 1950s.
