Sam Hughes has been a Chicago Cubs scout since 1998 and national crosschecker starting in 2009. In 2020, he was national crosschecker for the New York Yankees. His father Gary Hughes was a long-time scout and executive. Sam signed Buck Coats and Eric Patterson for Chicago.
