Biographical Information[edit]

Ryota Ishibashi pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Ishibashi was drafted by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in the fifth round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first three years; he only pitched 4 games with the big club in 2016.[1] Ishibashi joined the rotation in 2019, and he was 8-7 with a 2.32 ERA. He also led the Pacific League with 20 homers allowed. Ishibashi slumped to 1-6 with a 6.11 ERA in 2020, and he only pitched 3 games with the big club in 2021. He was turned into a reliever in 2022, but he struggled as his ERA was 6.12 in 26 appearances. He announced his retirement in 2023 as he only had 2 appearances in that season.[2]

Overall, Ishibashi was 11-14 with a 5.11 ERA, struck out 145 and pitched 244 2/3 innings in 6 years in NPB. His repertoire featured a fastball that peaks at 94.4 mph, a cutter, forkball, shuuto and a curveball.
