Biographical Information[edit]

Utility player Ryota Aikawa played in Nippon Professional Baseball in 1999 and from 2001 to 2009. He spent his entire career with the Orix Blue Wave.

Aikawa was drafted by the Blue Wave in the 3rd round of 1998 NPB draft. After struggling his first three campaigns, he posted a .340/.397/.604 slash line in 53 at-bats in 2003, hitting three home runs with seven RBI. He fell to .273/.312/.398 in 128 at-bats the next year. In 2006, he received the most playing time of his career, hitting .257/.311/.497 with 11 home runs and 26 RBI in 65 games (175 at-bats).

Overall, he batted .246/.292/.420 with 28 home runs and 95 RBI in 736 at-bats in 314 games over 10 seasons.
