Biographical Information[edit]

Ryo Kumagai was a minor league relief pitcher who played in the Boston Red Sox system in 2002 and 2003.

In 2002, he played for the Augusta Greenjackets (21 games) and Sarasota Red Sox (21 games), going 3-2 with a 4.16 ERA in 42 games. In 2003, he pitched for the Greenjackets (20 games), Sarasota Red Sox (one game) and Portland Sea Dogs (three games), going a combined 0-3 with a 6.63 ERA in 24 appearances. Overall, he went 3-5 with a 5.10 ERA in 66 career appearances. In 100 2/3 innings of work, he walked 55 batters and struck out 86.
