Ryan Bird was from South Africa but made his mark in Great Britain. He hit .508/.578/.822 in Britain from 2008-2015, setting league records for average, OBP and slugging. He won the MVP in 2008, 2009 and 2013 and led the league in RBI once and homers once. He also was named the best defensive first baseman in 2012. He pitched excellently as well, going 15-4 with a 2.72 ERA and 181 K in 99 1/3 IP, including back-to-back no-hitters in 2013. He helped the Richmond Flames win the 2010 title.

In 2019, he made the British Baseball Hall of Fame.
