Rutherford B. Hayes

Rutherford B. Hayes was President of the United States from 1877-1881.

It is said that Hayes and his family, who had lived in Cincinnati, OH when Hayes first ran for Congress, were highly interested in the exploits of the famous 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings team and kept a scrapbook of their games. In 1869 Hayes was Governor of Ohio. His son, Birchard Hayes played for the Croghan Baseball Club in 1871.
