Biographical Information[edit]
Russ Johnson was the shortstop for Team USA in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. He hit .350/.458/.475 and stole 3 bases in 6 tries. He fielded only .903 with 6 errors in 11 games. He was 1 for 4 with a walk and a run in the semifinal upset over Japan then was nearly identical, one for four with a run, three whiffs and an error in the Gold Medal Game loss to Cuba. In a similar performance, Johnson hit .303/.378/.485 as the US shortstop in the 1994 Baseball World Cup but made four errors in 8 games for a .879 fielding percentage.
