Biographical Information[edit]
Ruperto "Rupe" Toppin was one of the early major leaguers out of Panama. He pitched in the majors for the Kansas City Athletics in 1962, giving up 3 runs in 2 innings in a pair of mid-season relief appearances.
Rupe's minor league career stretched 10 seasons. While he was mostly a reliever, he had some seasons as a starter. He went 14-11 for the Sarasota Sun Sox in 1961 mostly as a starter and 13-4 for the Burlington Senators in 1966, again mostly as a starter.
