With the Tulsa Oilers in 1924, he had a campaign for the ages, batting .375 with 48 home runs, 53 doubles, 184 runs scored, 247 hits, 458 total bases and a .696 slugging percentage in 169 games. He led the Western League in homers, runs scored and total bases. In 1925, with the San Antonio Bears, Washburn batted .328 with 16 home runs in 107 games. His next offensive outburst came in the early '30s with the El Paso Texans.
