Biographical Information[edit]
Foster Leroy "Roy" Witherup pitched three seasons in the majors at a young age, finishing up not long after he turned 23. In the minors with Des Moines in 1908 he went 20-20.
He had arm trouble in early 1910 and then reportedly missed the 1910 season due to illness.
"From Waddell's Bailiwick. The Butler, Pa., team has a boy pitcher who is considered a wonder. His name is Witherup . . ." - Sporting Life, July 8, 1905, noting that Roy Witherup was from Rube Waddell's neck of the woods
