Biographical Information[edit]
3B/P Roy Rowley played for Team Canada. His brother Jack Rowley was a teammate in Canadian domestic competition.
Rowley hit .268 for the 1960 North Battleford club. He won six games in 1961. In '62, he hit .359, 6th in the Northern Saskatchewan League, while also leading in winning percentage (5-1). He was 2-2 in 1963 and hit .329. In 1964, he hit .395/~.531/.500 and went 1-1. He was second in the league in average behind Ken Hunt (unclear if this is the former major leaguer or not).
In 1965, he hit .387, second again in the Northern Saskatchewan, .015 behind Bob Babki. He fell to .273 in 1966. In 1968, now playing for the Moose Jaw Regals, he hit .366 to lead the Southern League (Saskatchewan); he was also 5-3. In 1969, he was 6th with a .330 average and had a 1-2 record. He had a 3-5 record for the 1970 Regals.
Rowley played for Canada in the 1970 Amateur World Series. He was 5-1 for Moose Jaw in '71 and was with Canada in the 1971 Pan American Games, homering against Colombia in the opener as Canada just missed out on a medal (the loss to Colombia proving decisive). He hit .278 and was 2-2 for the 1972 Moose Jaw Demons. He had a strong two-way campaign in 1973 - he hit .391 to tie for third in average and was 5-2 to finish second in winning percentage. He was with Canada for the 1973 Intercontinental Cup. In 1974, his last season, he went 5-0 to lead the Southern League in winning percentage and was 4th with a .351 average.
