From BR Bullpen

Roy Roth was a replacement umpire when the regular umpires went on strike in 1978 and 1979. The first year, he worked a game at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, CA when the umpires staged a one-day strike on August 25th. The following year, when the umpires walked off for six weeks, he was a very busy man, working a total 32 games: 12 in the American League at the Oakland Coliseum and 20 in the National League, all at Candlestick Park.
