Biographical Information[edit]

Rose Gacioch was a professional softball and baseball player for twenty years. She began her career in 1932 with a town team. She joined the All Star Ranger Girls in 1934 and barnstormed around the country. For the next decade, she played softball and hardball when the opportunity arose.

After the AAGPBL was founded, Gacioch joined the league. She debuted with the 1944 South Bend Blue Sox. The next year she joined the Rockford Peaches. She stayed with the league for 11 years as an outfielder and pitcher. By the end of her career, she was old enough to be the mother of some of her teammates.

Among Gacioch's career achievements are an eighth place ranking in RBI (352), 92 career pitching wins, three All Star selections, and four league championships. She left baseball when the league folded in 1954.

Gacioch was an accomplished sportswoman. In 1954, she was the national champion in doubles bowling. After retirement, she remained in Rockford until she moved to the Detroit area.
