Roque Román has pitched in the minor leagues, Italy and for the Colombian national team.

Román was 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in the 1994 Baseball World Cup; he had one of two wins for Colombia and their second-best ERA on a staff with an ERA over 6. He fanned 17 in 16 innings to finish 6th in the Cup in Ks. Roque came to the USA for two seasons in the independent leagues. He was 6-2 with a 2.51 ERA for the 2000 Tri-City Posse, allowing 36 hits in 46 2/3 innings. In 2001, he had a 7-4, 4.79 record for the Sonoma County Crushers to finish his US career at 13-6.

In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, the right-hander again had one of two Colombian victories, going 1-1 with a 2.51 ERA; their next-best pitcher had a 4.82 ERA and the team ERA was 7.88. He lost to similarly named Orlando Román and Puerto Rico but rebounded to stun Taiwan in a 3-2 upset over Ying-Feng Tsai.

Román then came to Italy for 2006-2007. He was 9-5 with a 1.87 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 105 2/3 IP for Comcor Engineering Modena BC in 2006. He was 4th in Serie A1 in innings, second to Jesus Matos in Ks, tied Victor Arias and Christian Mura for the lead in wins and third in ERA. He moved to Parma for 2007, going 1-2 with 4 saves and a 3.27 ERA then losing his lone decision in the semifinals.
