Biographical Information[edit]
Ron Wojciak was a young athlete who grew up in Columbia Heights, Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota where he became an All-Conference baseball player. Wojciak helped the Gophers win the 1964 College World Series as a catcher before signing with the Minnesota Twins. He was elected into the Gopher Sports Hall of Fame.
He hit .250/?/.320 for the 1965 Orlando Twins.
In 1966, lung cancer claimed his life and his hometown Boosters founded the Ron Wojciak Award in his honor to be given to those who are greatly involved in community youth athletics. An award has been presented every year since 1966.
