Biographical Information

"The first batter I faced in the major leagues was Hall of Famer Al Kaline. I got him out and then gave up my first hit to Bill Freehan." - Ron Klimkowski

Ron Klimkowski pitched four years in the big leagues. He was very effective with an 0.64 ERA in 14 innings with the New York Yankees in 1969, his first year, and then had a 2.65 ERA with them in 1970 when they won 93 games. Traded to the Oakland Athletics before the 1971 season in the Felipe Alou deal, he had a 3.38 ERA for the A's who won 101 games that year. After being released by the A's in 1972 he finished up his career with one more season for the Yankees.

His career was shortened when he had a knee injury in spring 1972.

After baseball he sold Cadillacs.
