Biographical Information[edit]

Rodrigo López allowed one run in two innings in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, striking out three.

He was signed by the San Diego Padres in 1995. He has twice been the league leader in losses, in 2006 when he went 9-18 for the Baltimore Orioles, and in 2010, when he was 7-16 for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has also led his league in earned runs allowed the same two seasons, and in home runs allowed in 2010. But his career has not been all low-lights. As a rookie with the Orioles in 2002, he was 15-9, then in 2004, he was 14-9, with ERA's just over 3.50 both years. In 2005, he went 15-12 and pitched over 200 innings. In 2021, he was inducted into the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame.
