Biographical Information[edit]
Roberto Machorro played four seasons in the minors.
Machorro was on the Mexican national team in the 1990 Goodwill Games. He hit .333/.333/.524 in the 1990 Baseball World Cup, with 5 RBI in seven games to lead Mexico in RBI. He was their most-used DH (3 games) but also played two in LF, one at catcher and one at pitcher (1 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 7 R for their highest ERA).
He turned pro with the 1993 Monterrey Sultans, going 2 for 5 with a triple and two walks. He was 5 for 32 with a double and three walks for the 1994 Sultans while playing error-free ball at catcher. In '95, he was 7 for 41 with 2 doubles, a triple and two walks for the Monclova Steelers. He resurfaced in 2000 with the Oaxaca Warriors, batting .227/.298/.300 in 49 games, backing up Homar Rojas at catcher. In 91 games and 188 AB in the Mexican League, he had batted .207/.270/.287 with 20 runs and 19 RBI.
