Biographical Information[edit]
Roberto Borrero was a catcher with the Indios de Guantanamo. In the 2003-2004 Cuban Serie Nacional, Borrero tied for the league lead with 11 sacrifice hits. He hit .257/.318/.391 in 2007-2008, his 12th season, and threw out 27 of 59 attempted base-stealers (45.8%). Through that year, he had hit .264 and slugged .356 for his career.
The 31-year-old Borrero batted .308/.354/.497 in 2008-2009 and ranked 4th in the circuit with 28 doubles. He gunned down a league-best 28 attempted base-stealers while only allowing 31 swipes (throwing out 47.5%).
Borrero fell to .238/.284/.304 with only 17 runs and 23 RBI in 81 games in the hitter-friendly Serie Nacional in 2009-2010.

He became manager of the Indios in 2017-2018, replacing Rubén Prevost and going 14-31. He was then replaced by Eduardo Pavó.
