Biographical Information[edit]
Roberto Almarales had over 100 wins (and over 100 losses) in Cuba from 1974-1993. He played for Cuban "B" teams a couple times but never for the Cuban national team.
Almarales debuted for the Arroceros in 1974-1975. With Cienfuegos in 1987-1988, he tied for the Cuban Serie Nacional lead with 7 intentional walks. In 1988-1989, he led the western division with 14 starts and 118 hits allowed. In his 19-season career, he was 107-115 with 10 saves and a 3.95 ERA over 383 games (242 starts). In 1,882 innings, he allowed 2,013 hits and 543 walks while striking out 861.
