Biographical Information[edit]

Robert Playfair pitched in the minor leagues from 1937 to 1942 and in 1946. Two highlight seasons include 1939, when he went 10-10 with a 3.50 ERA in 24 games (19 starts) for the Carthage Pirates and 1942, when he went 16-12 in 30 games for the Muskogee Reds. In 1940, he tied Joe Prylich and Teddy Greble for the Arkansas-Missouri League lead in victories with 9. Overall, he was about 48-47 (.505 winning percentage) in 116 games over seven seasons. He missed 1943 to 1945 to service in World War II.
