Robert Paul was a top Czech pitcher of the late 1990s.

Paul led the Czech Extraliga with 75 strikeouts in 1995, pitching for Draci Brno. In 1996, he had the best record (9-0, no one being better from 1995-1999) as well as the most whiffs (again 75). He pitched for the Czech national team in the 1996 European Championship B Pool as they qualified for their first European Championship, the 1997 European Championship (he remained with them for the 1997 event). In 1999, he was 2-0 with two saves and no earned runs in 13 2/3 IP for Draci, tying Radek Procházka for the league lead in saves. Through that season, he was 25-6 with a 3.37 ERA and 227 K from 1995-1999, being second in the Extraliga in whiffs in that period (19 behind future major leaguer Roger Deago), second in wins and sixth in ERA.

In the 1999 European Championship, he was 1-0 with a 10.80 ERA. He was 4-0 with a 3.00 ERA in the 2000 Extraliga, 4th in ERA (between Procházka and Michal Kočí). He briefly had the career strikeout lead at 250, four ahead of Deago. He was 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in three games for Draci Brno in 2001 to end his career. He had gone 30-6 with four saves and a 3.30 ERA, striking out 260 in 319 innings.
