Biographical Information[edit]
Robert Hartranft played minor league ball for two years.
Signed by the Philadelphia Phillies, he was 4-1 for the 1948 Carbondale Pioneers. Moving to the St. Louis Cardinals system, he hit .269/.362/.367 for the 1950 Lebanon Chix, with 27 doubles and 78 runs. He led North Atlantic League third basemen in fielding percentage (.940), putouts (144) and double plays (32). He tied Chet Krajewski for 5th in the league in doubles. His career then ended because he was drafted into the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He later worked for Adelphi Kitchens.
