Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Robby Martin Jr. was drafted twice. He was originally taken by the Miami Marlins in the 37th round of the 2018 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He did sign after being taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 8th round of the 2021 amateur draft; his signing bonus was $200,000.

Between the ACL Rockies and Fresno Grizzlies in 2021, he hit .256/.352/.436 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 25 games. He spent the 2022 season with the High-A Spokane Indians, but hit only .212/.266/.345 with 5 homers, 20 doubles, and 36 RBI. He struck out 92 times in 278 at bats for a whopping 33.1% whiff rate and only stole 3 bases in 7 attempts.

He was back in Fresno to begin 2023, where he improved to .265/.316/.425; his strikeout rate dropped all the way down to 20.1%. He was brought back up to the Lilac City at the end of June as a plethora of Spokane's outfielders moved on to the AA Eastern League. Martin Jr. maintained the .265 batting average he had with the Grizzlies, he posted an improved on-base percentage of .324, but a lesser slugging average of .382. His strikeout rate also went up, but not to where it was in 2022, posting a 28.7% whiff rate in his half season back with the Indians. He stole 10 bases in 13 attempts.

He began 2024 as the Indians cleanup hitter.
