Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Rick Taloa was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 35th round of the 2005 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Ogden Dodgers, hitting .267/.291/.427 in 22 games. He played three seasons in their organization, spending two and a half years with Ogden and reaching the A level with the Great Lakes Loons in 2007. He hit .271/.321/.457 with 11 homers and 48 RBI in 65 games in '06. He was four homers behind Pioneer League leader Chris Carter and led the loop's first basemen with 45 assists. He lost out All-Star honors at first to Carter.

He split his last season between Ogden (.221/.250/.390 in 21 G) and Great Lakes (.205/.232/.321 in 21 G). Overall, he slugged .419 in the minors but only had a .291 OBP.
