Biographical Information[edit]
Dick Major grew up in Hartsdale, NY and attended White Plains High School and Dartmouth College, where he studied botany. He was signed by Frank Meadows for the Philadelphia Phillies on July 14, 1954 and assigned to the Trois-Rivières Phillies, per the Reporter Dispatch of July 15th. He played one season in the minors going 5-3 with a 2.78 ERA in 68 innings.
He was in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1959, serving as a lieutenant and navigator. After his discharge, he settled down in Houston, TX and worked in the nascent computer industry, including for Honeywell and Xerox.
