Richard Gomez has been a movie star in the Philippines but has also been a star athlete. He has won multiple acting awards. He won a gold medal in fencing at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games then emerged as one of the country's better baseball players. He became good enough to join his country's national team as an infielder for the 2007 Asian Championship (an Olympic qualifier), but he did not appear in the event.
