Rich Humphrey
Richard Craig Humphrey
Biographical Information[edit]
Rich Humphrey began his umpiring career in the Gulf Coast League in 1976; from there, he moved to the Florida State League in 1977, the Carolina League in 1978, the Southern League in 1979 and the International League from 1980 to at least 1986. In the meantime, he came up to the American League as a replacement umpire for one game in 1983 and for longer stints in 1985 and 1986. However, he was not added to the permanent umpiring staff, and when he made his return to the major leagues in 1995, it was in the National League as a replacement umpire during the umpires' strike at the start of that season.
