Ricardo Cacao
- Bats Right, Throws Right
Biographical Information[edit]
Ricardo Cacao was on the Salvadoran national team in the 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games [1] and is presumably the R. Cacao who was with them in the 1952 Amateur World Series. Turning pro, he was one of the few Salvadorans in the minor leagues in the 20th Century. He hit .309/.427/.427 in 23 games for the 1953 Pampa Oilers, though he fielded .842 at third base. [2] He was 0 for 11 for the '54 Iola Indians before a knee injury ended his US career. [3] He then played for the Salvadoran softball national team. [4] He had numerous relatives who played baseball in El Salvador. [5]
