Biographical Information[edit]
Rene Masip pitched for four seasons in the minor leagues, going 50-28. He was 3-6 with a 4.90 ERA for the 1952 Hornell Dodgers and also was with the Sheboygan Indians (5-2, 3.08). The next year, he was Sheboygan's ace, going 12-6 with a 2.90 ERA. He the best control pitcher in the Wisconsin State League, walking only 33 in 121 innings - only one pitcher who worked more than 45 innings had fewer walks and they issued 26 in 51. The presicision pitcher spent 1954 with the Asheville Tourists and Union City Dodgers (18-5, 3.39). He led the KITTY League in wins and might have led in ERA as well. In '55, Masip concluded his career by going 12-9 with a 5.71 ERA for the El Dorado Oilers.
