Biographical Information

Reid Nichols played 8 years in the major leagues for three different teams. He had a two-home run game on August 24, 1982 as a member of the Boston Red Sox against the Seattle Mariners. The pitchers were Bob Stoddard and Bill Caudill. He had a triple in every year of his career except 1986. His 7 stolen bases for the Red Sox in 1983 was second on the team.

In 1987 he was the opening day starter in center field for the Montreal Expos against the Cincinnati Reds. He had been signed by the Expos only a couple of days earlier after having been let go by the Chicago White Sox at the end of spring training, and manager Buck Rodgers decided to platoon him with lefty Herm Winningham; because the Reds' starter was lefty Tom Browning, Nichols got the starting assignment even though he was a career back-up who would get fewer than 150 at-bats that season.

Nichols was the Farm Director of the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003 until October 2015, when he was released by new Brewers' General Manager David Stearns. He had held the same post with the Texas Rangers from 1994 to 2000 and was the Rangers' first base coach in 2001.
