Recreation Park (San Francisco)

Recreation Park was a ballpark in San Francisco, CA in the first three decades of the 20th Century. It was home to the 1903-1913 and 1915-1930 San Francisco Seals, 1926-1927 Mission Bells and 1928-1930 Mission Reds. It was replaced by Seals Stadium.

It was burned down by the fires that followed the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, but was rebuilt in time for the 1907 Pacific Coast League season at a cost of $100,000. The lot's configuration necessitated that the left field fence be only 235 feet from home plate. To cut down on the cheap homers, a 50-foot wall was erected.
