Biographical Information

Outfielder Ray Rudisill played in the minor leagues from 1940 to 1942 and from 1946 ot 1949. With the Harrisonburg Turks in 1940, he hit .306 with 10 triples and 134 hits in 116 games; returning to the club in 1941, he hit .314 with 133 hits in 110 games. In 1942, he hit .328 with a .514 slugging percentage, 12 home runs, 14 triples and 150 hits in 125 games for the Pulaski Counts, leading the Virginia League with 108 runs scored. After not playing from 1943 to 1945 due to service in World War II, Rudisill slashed .342/.486/.504 with 10 home runs, 93 RBI, 169 runs, 116 walks (45 Ks) and 20 stolen bases in 125 games for Pulaski in 1946. Back with Pulaski in 1947, he hit .363/.515/.543 with 7 home runs, 101 RBI, 13 triples, 162 runs, 157 hits, 130 walks (30 Ks) and a 1.058 OPS in 118 games. His average fell to .286 in 99 games for the Radford Rockets in 1948, but in 1949, he hit .329/.456/.477 with 9 home runs, 81 RBI, 89 runs scored, and 80 walks (44 K) in 103 games back with Pulaski to wrap up his career. Overall, Rudisill hit .326 with 934 hits and 51 home runs in 789 games over seven seasons. He slugged .474.

He served as manager of the Counts to begin 1946, but was replaced by Ted Dixon partway through the year. He led the Rockets to a 68-55, 3rd place finish in 1948. They lost in the first round of the playoffs.

His brothers, Ken Rudisill and John Rudisill, also played professionally.
