Biographical Information

Third baseman Ray Cunningham was called up by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1931 and made his big league debut late in the season. The following year, he roomed with Hall of Famer Dizzy Dean and Pepper Martin during spring training. He played in 11 games for the Cards in 1932, but injuries ended his big league career. He played in the minors aftewards but retired at age 29.

After his playing career ended, Cunningham worked in the beverage industry. In his later years, he became a big fan of the Houston Astros and rarely missed a game on radio or television. At the time of his death in 2005, he was the Oldest Living MLB Player.
