Biographical Information[edit]
Ray Arra was a minor league pitcher, scout and college coach.
Arra went 1-2 with a 6.88 ERA in five games for the 1960 Hobbs Pirates and was 2 for 5 at the plate. He then went on to college, where he played baseball (14-4 as a pitcher, over .400 one year as a hitter) and basketball. He returned to the Pittsburgh Pirates as a scout from 1966-1973. He coached American Legion baseball and at Westfield Vocational High School, East Longmeadow High School and Minnechaug Regional High School. He also spent a year as an assistant at American International College in 1991. In 2003, he returned to the college level as an assistant at his alma mater. He was promoted to head coach in 2005 and went 187-162-1 before retiring at the end of 2013.
