Biographical Information[edit]
In February 2018, catcher Raudy Read of the Washington Nationals was suspended for 80 games for testing positive for a banned substance. He had made his major league debut in the final month of the 2017 season, hitting .273 in 8 games after a solid season with the Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League, where he hit .265 in 108 games, with 25 doubles and 17 homers. he had been signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2011.
Read claimed that he had never taken the incriminated substance, Boldenone, a substance normally used in animal medicine but also used as a performance enhancer.
