Biographical Information[edit]

Randy Sterling was the first New York Mets pitcher to pitch five no-hit innings in his major league debut. That came on September 16, 1974, against the Montreal Expos. The only other to accomplish this is Brian Bannister.

His father Clayton Sterling, was a first baseman in the minors in 1941 and 1948.
