Biographical Information[edit]

Randy "Rags" Johnson played three years with the Atlanta Braves, accumulating a .267 career average. He also played two seasons with the Hiroshima Carp in the Japan Professional League where he hit over .300. In 1989, he played for the West Palm Beach Tropics of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He hit .322 in 33 games with the club.

Since retiring, he has worked as a scout for the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies and in the front office of the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics. He signed Rikki Johnston, Justin Sellers and Kurt Suzuki. He was then a Special Assistant to GM Billy Beane for the Athletics. In 2010-2012 he was the minor league field coordinator for the Padres. He signed Nick Schultz as a Padres scout.

Johnson's brother, Don Johnson, was a pitcher in the California Angels chain in 1974.
