Biographical Information[edit]

The Baltimore Orioles drafted Randolph Gassaway in the 16th round of the 2013 amateur draft from Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs, GA. Gassaway played in the Orioles' minor league system through the 2018 season before playing a final year in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He reached AA with the Bowie Baysox for nine games in 2017. Overall Gassaway hit .265/.318/.366 while appearing in 427 minor league games.

Gassaway turned to teaching others the game of baseball even before his playing days ended. He worked as an instructor at D-Bat Atlanta from 2019-2022. The San Diego Padres pulled him away in 2022 and hired him to coach Fort Wayne TinCaps hitters. He only stayed in this role one season. In the fall of 2022 Gassaway joined the Seattle Mariners organization as an area scout in the Pacific Northwest.
