Biographical Information[edit]

Ramón Flores spent three years in the minors.

Flores was signed by Atlanta Braves scout Marvin Throneberry in June 2009. He hit .368/.403/.547 with 25 runs in 27 games for the DSL Braves. Had he qualified, he would have been second in the Dominican Summer League in average. In 2010, he hit .333/.351/.389 in 8 games for the Danville Braves and .217/.243/.341 in 39 games for the Rome Braves before an injury ended his season. During 2011, he was 6 for 37 with a double and homer for Rome. He finished his minor league career with a .277/.305/.412 batting line in 85 games, with 49 runs, 8 triples, 36 RBI and only 9 walks. He fielded .934, with 14 assists, splitting time fairly evenly between RF and CF.

In the 2011 Baseball World Cup, Flores was 2 for 11 with a stolen base, primarily backing up Douglas Morales in right field for the Nicaraguan national team. He entered controversy in Nicaragua in 2014; in 2011, he had opted to play for Nuevo Segovia (where he was living) instead of Estelí (his birthplace). In 2014, though, he showed up in Estelí's training camp, as they were offering him more money under the table. League officials ruled that Nuevo Segovia still had his rights; he would have to be inactive six months if he refused to report to them.
