Biographical Information[edit]

Ramón Pineda pitched for the Mexican national team in the 1978 Amateur World Series; in 6 innings, he allowed 11 hits, 5 walks and 8 runs (6 earned) while fanning two. He had the team's highest ERA (Armando Gaxiola was next at 4.86) and only Galdino Villegas worked fewer innings for Mexico. He pitched in the Mexican League in 1980-1981. In 1980, he was 3-3 with a 5.21 ERA in 25 games for the Bravos de León. In 1981, he was 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA in 8 games for the Petroleros de Poza Rica and Leones de Yucatán.
