Biographical Information[edit]

Ralph Garr Jr. is the son of former major league star Ralph Garr. Garr Jr. played four seasons in the minor leagues then became a scout.

Garr was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the 20th round of the 1990 amateur draft, 23 years after the same organization took his father in the third round. He went 9 for 34 with five walks and a double as a backup outfielder for the 1990 GCL Braves. He split 1991 between the GCL Braves (3 for 13, BB) and the Danville Braves (.202/.235/.234 in 35 G). With the 1992 Idaho Falls Gems, Garr improved to .235/.285/.355. He had five triples, two shy of the Appalachian League lead. He wrapped up his playing career in 1993 with the Macon Braves, producing at a .224/.325/.343 rate and registering eight outfield assists in 54 games.

In 2005, the Baltimore Orioles hired him as an area scout for east Texas as he followed his father's footsteps into baseball scouting. He stayed with the Orioles through 2008, then moved to the St. Louis Cardinals.
