Ralf Schmidt
Ralf Schmidt was an infielder for the German national team. He was 3 for 13 with a walk, three runs and RBI in the 1971 European Championship, when Germany won the Bronze Medal; he fielded .963. He led the team with 20 assists. He was 3-for-37 with four walks, 15 whiffs and two runs in the 1972 Amateur World Series, fielding .831 with 11 errors in 13 games for the winless Germans. On a team that hit .115/.134/.161, he was not that far behind his teammates offensively, while he tied Roland Hoffmann for the team lead in errors. He also appeared in the 1973 Amateur World Series but statistics are unavailable. For tourneys in which stats are known, he was 10th in German annals with 40 assists (through 2010) and tied for 8th with 12 errors (even with Torsten Stender and Mathias Winterrath).
