Biographical Information[edit]

R.J. Rodriguez has spent four seasons in the minors through 2009.

Rodriguez signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Padres in 2006. He debuted as a pro with the AZL Padres (5 BB, 2 R, Sv in 4 2/3 IP) and the Eugene Emeralds (2-3, 14 Sv, 1.54). He was second in the Northwest League in saves. In 2007, he pitched for the Fort Wayne Wizards (3-2, 18 Sv, 4.11) and the Lake Elsinore Storm (4.50). He was 6-3 with 12 saves and a 4.92 ERA for the 2008 Storm.

Moving to the Pittsburgh Pirates system, Rodriguez went 6-3 with 27 saves and a 3.08 ERA for the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats and a .214 opponent average. He then joined Puerto Rico for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
