Questec, also spelled QuesTec, was an automatic system used by Major League Baseball in certain ballparks from 2003 to 2008 to provide an independent assessment of ball and strike calls. The purpose was not to make in-game calls, but to have a standard against which to gauge the performance of umpires. The system was widely criticized, by both players and umpires, who felt that the technology was not reliable and thus that any ratings derived from its data were hopelessly flawed.

The system was faded out in 2008, but other more accurate systems have been developed since then, including MLB's own PITCHf/x, and have proved much more performing, to the point that MLB has actually considered experimenting with using them instead of umpires. This was first done in the independent leagues and there were plans to do it in the Atlantic League in 2019 with the support of MLB. MLB was deeply interested in studying the results of the experiment, but the plan was delayed until the second half of the season due to technical issues.
